I have been an Objectivist since 1993 when I first read Atlas Shrugged. The scales fell from my eyes and I have never lived my life for another human being since.
When did you start reading Rand?
i like ayn rand's simple variation on the usual philosophy breakdown of:.
1.metaphysics (objective reality).
3.ethics (enlightened self-interest).

That is why it is important to end Social Security as soon as possible. Get the hard part over and the future will be incredibly bright for those in their 20's and 30's.
i hope this has not been a topic lately.... it was christmas day...and i had went to visit some non-jw relatives i was 15 yrs old...and a group of other kids from the neighborhood had all got together on the block, it was snowing and the snow was so fluffy and pretty, so we all started walking down the street singing x-mas songs (we had sipped some spiked egg nog) everyone exchanged little gifts.
we went to different houses visiting and eating.
toward the end of the night we went to my sister's friend house and danced till around 2:00 in the morning..." for the first time in my life i felt free and happy.
Canadian comedians the Kids in the Hall made a movie called "Brain Candy." Each person who took the pill relived his favorite memory over and and over again until he became incapable of functioning.
My favorite scene was a power mad boss who's favorite memory was the perfect cup of coffee served by his assistant. The assistant's favorite memory was peeing in the boss's coffee before sevring it to the boss.
Nonsense.
Get over your inferiority complex.
Men and women are equals. No pedestals, no false chivalry.
Unless you are gay, men and women deserve each other with no apologies.

Social Security is no different then any other Ponzi scheme. As long as more people pay in instead of taking out everything looks great. Eventually the day comes when there is not enough new people giving money to keep the scheme going.
This is a scary thought, but Social Security should be scrapped and replaced by 100% voluntary private accounts. People will lose money and be hurt. Better to have the hurt come quickly like ripping off a bandaid then letting the agony go on for years.
Republicans and Democrats are equally to blame. To say that Social Security can be saved is like saying you can eat ice cream every day and not get fat. Everyone wants to believe it, but it can't be done.
why are men petrified of the color pink?
would you, as a man, ever wear anything pink, say a pink polo shirt, with a pair of faded blue jeans?
although a bit out of the ordinary for most men, the artist in me ask, what is it with the very sexist colour of pink?
When Hugh Hefner hosted Saturday Night Live back in the 70's that was his big question. To go pink or not to go pink?
Ummm.... You mean you're talking about the color of shirts? Well now, that's very different.
Nevermind.
i just have to comment about the canned wtbts music on cd the local congregations play on $150 cd players through $20 speakers set in the foamboard ceilings at their sales meetings worship services.
what a joke the music is that they use to sing praises.
the lyrics remind me of a high school pep rally with all the emphasis on 'we're joe hoba's witnesses and yada-yada-yah preaching from door to door and from house to house' or 'life everlasting in the pair-o-dice' crap that just tickles the dubbies ears so much they get all pretty and pink.
Before I became a Witness I went to a Pentecostal Church where my uncle was the Pastor. The music was a huge part of the worship. The first time I went to the Kingdom Hall I thought,"God, what horrible music! Kingdom songs suck. " It was many years before I could actually listen to Kingdom songs without flinching.
Amazing Grace is the greatest religious song of all time. It was written in the 1700's by a man who used to be the captain of a slave ship. One day as he was thinking about where he stood before God and the plight of the chained African men and women that he was taking to bondage he had an epiphany. Slavery was wrong, a great evil that he would fight against for the rest of his life. He wrote Amazing Grace in thanks to God for his freedom and to fortify his struggle to help slaves gain their freedom.
No Kingdom song can match the power and majesty of the songs of Christendom.
we got a command at the service meeting tonight - the km article on the summer district conventions said if we are dining out we really should tip 15-20% minmum -this was repeated twice = good to know the witnesses are getting less tight
I have heard that during the 1958 Convention in New York, the cab drivers said that the Witnesses came to town with the Ten Commandments and a ten dollar bill and they won't break either one.
Serving the public is one of the worst jobs. I tip 15%.
I like the Real World and Road Rules on MTV.
I like to watch all the dating shows. I love it when people have a horrible date and can't stand being together. No psycho-analyzing folks, I just think it's funny.
I thought Jerry Springer exposed the worst American families on television, but now A&E has a show called "Intervention" where you see different addicts drag their families through a living hell.
Watching the Prisoner as a child in the 60's had a profound effect on me.
"I am not a number I am a free man" lies at the heart of my politics to this day.
